This simple recipe is perfect for any meal, whether it’s a quick lunch or a cozy dinner. Customize your sandwich with various cheeses and add-ins, ensuring that every bite is uniquely delicious and perfectly crunchy on the outside with irresistible cheesiness on the inside.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 slices sturdy bread (sourdough, whole grain, or classic white)
  • 2 oz cheese (cheddar, mozzarella, or gouda)
  • 1 tbsp softened butter

Instructions

  1. Gather all ingredients: bread, cheese, and butter.
  2. Generously spread softened butter on one side of each slice of bread.
  3. Heat a skillet over medium heat and place one slice in the skillet, buttered side down. Top with cheese.
  4. Cover with the second slice of bread, buttered side up. Press gently with a spatula.
  5. Cook for 3-4 minutes until golden brown; flip and cook for another 3-4 minutes until both sides are toasted and cheese is melted.
  6. Remove from heat and let cool slightly before slicing in half. Serve warm.
