- 9 lasagna noodles (no-boil or traditional)
- 1 lb lean ground beef
- 15 oz ricotta cheese
- 3 cups shredded mozzarella cheese (divided)
- 1 cup freshly grated Parmesan cheese
- 24 oz marinara sauce
- 1/4 cup fresh basil (chopped)
- 3 cloves garlic (minced)
- 1 medium yellow onion (chopped)
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 2 tbsp olive oil
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
- In a skillet over medium heat, add olive oil. Sauté chopped onions and minced garlic until fragrant.
- Add ground beef, cook until browned. Drain excess fat.
- Stir in marinara sauce and fresh basil; simmer for 10 minutes.
- In a bowl, mix ricotta cheese with half of the mozzarella, Parmesan, salt, and pepper.
- Spread meat sauce on the bottom of a baking dish. Layer noodles, cheese mixture, and more sauce; repeat until all ingredients are used.
- Cover with foil and bake for 25 minutes. Remove foil, sprinkle remaining mozzarella on top, and bake uncovered for another 15 minutes until bubbly.
