Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup dried hibiscus flowers
  • 4 cups filtered water
  • 1/2 cup sugar (or honey)
  • 1/4 cup freshly squeezed lemon juice
  • Ice cubes for serving

Instructions

  1. Boil 4 cups of water in a saucepan.
  2. Remove from heat and add 1/2 cup dried hibiscus flowers, stirring gently.
  3. Cover and steep for 15-20 minutes until fragrant.
  4. Strain the mixture through a fine mesh strainer into another container, discarding the petals.
  5. While warm, stir in 1/2 cup sugar (or honey) and 1/4 cup lemon juice to taste.
  6. Chill in the refrigerator for about an hour.
  7. Serve over ice and garnish with lemon slices or mint if desired.
