  • 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts (about 1.5 lbs)
  • 3 cloves fresh garlic, minced
  • 1-inch piece fresh ginger, minced
  • 1/2 cup low-sodium soy sauce
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1 tbsp sesame oil
  • 2 tbsp rice vinegar

Instructions

  1. Prepare ingredients: Chop chicken into bite-sized pieces and mince garlic and ginger.
  2. Mix the sauce: In a bowl, whisk together soy sauce, brown sugar, sesame oil, and rice vinegar until sugar dissolves.
  3. Marinate the chicken: Combine chicken and half of the sauce in a resealable bag; refrigerate for at least 30 minutes.
  4. Cook the chicken: Heat oil in a skillet over medium-high heat; add marinated chicken and cook until golden brown (5–7 minutes).
  5. Add more sauce: Pour remaining teriyaki sauce over chicken; simmer for another 5 minutes until thickened.
