Description

Mango sago is a refreshing tropical dessert that combines luscious mango puree with chewy sago pearls and creamy coconut milk. This delightful treat is perfect for warm days, evoking memories of sun-soaked afternoons with friends and family. With minimal ingredients and easy preparation, mango sago can be served as a light dessert or an afternoon snack, making it a versatile addition to any gathering.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 ripe mangoes, peeled and chopped
  • 1/2 cup small sago pearls
  • 1 cup full-fat coconut milk
  • 3 cups filtered water
  • 1/4 cup sugar (adjust to taste)
  • A pinch of salt

Instructions

  1. Rinse the sago pearls under cold water until clear. Soak in water for 30 minutes.
  2. In a pot, bring 3 cups of water to a boil. Add soaked sago pearls and cook for 10-15 minutes until translucent, stirring occasionally. Drain excess water.
  3. Blend the chopped mangoes into a smooth puree, reserving half for topping.
  4. In another saucepan, combine coconut milk, sugar, and salt over low heat until sugar dissolves—do not let it boil.
  5. Mix cooked sago into the coconut milk mixture off heat and fold in half of the mango puree.
  6. Pour into serving bowls and refrigerate for at least one hour. Top with reserved mango puree before serving.
