  • 1 package (16 oz) phyllo dough, thawed
  • 2 cups shelled and coarsely chopped pistachios
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 cup honey
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 cup water

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Unroll phyllo dough and cover with a damp towel.
  3. In a bowl, mix chopped pistachios, sugar, and cinnamon.
  4. Brush a baking dish with melted butter; layer six sheets of phyllo, brushing each with butter.
  5. Spread the pistachio mixture over the layered phyllo.
  6. Layer additional phyllo sheets on top, brushing each with butter.
  7. Cut baklava into diamond shapes; bake for about 45 minutes or until golden brown.
  8. Simmer honey and water in a saucepan until syrupy; pour over hot baklava once baked.
  9. Serve warm or at room temperature.
