- 9 lasagna noodles (no-boil or regular)
- 1 lb lean ground beef
- 3 cups marinara sauce
- 15 oz whole milk ricotta cheese
- 3 cups shredded whole milk mozzarella cheese
- 1 cup freshly grated Parmesan cheese
- ¼ cup fresh basil, chopped
- 1 large egg
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1 tsp Italian seasoning
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- In a large skillet over medium heat, brown the ground beef until no longer pink. Drain fat if needed.
- Stir in the marinara sauce, garlic powder, and Italian seasoning; let simmer for about 10 minutes.
- In a bowl, mix ricotta cheese with the egg and half of the Parmesan cheese. Season with salt and pepper.
- Spread a thin layer of meat sauce in a 9×13 inch baking dish. Layer noodles over the sauce followed by ricotta mixture, more meat sauce, and mozzarella. Repeat until all ingredients are used.
- Cover with aluminum foil and bake for 25 minutes. Remove foil and bake an additional 15 minutes until cheese is bubbly and golden brown.
- Allow to cool for 10-15 minutes before slicing.
