  • 9 lasagna noodles (no-boil or regular)
  • 1 lb lean ground beef
  • 3 cups marinara sauce
  • 15 oz whole milk ricotta cheese
  • 3 cups shredded whole milk mozzarella cheese
  • 1 cup freshly grated Parmesan cheese
  • ¼ cup fresh basil, chopped
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp Italian seasoning
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a large skillet over medium heat, brown the ground beef until no longer pink. Drain fat if needed.
  3. Stir in the marinara sauce, garlic powder, and Italian seasoning; let simmer for about 10 minutes.
  4. In a bowl, mix ricotta cheese with the egg and half of the Parmesan cheese. Season with salt and pepper.
  5. Spread a thin layer of meat sauce in a 9×13 inch baking dish. Layer noodles over the sauce followed by ricotta mixture, more meat sauce, and mozzarella. Repeat until all ingredients are used.
  6. Cover with aluminum foil and bake for 25 minutes. Remove foil and bake an additional 15 minutes until cheese is bubbly and golden brown.
  7. Allow to cool for 10-15 minutes before slicing.
