- Coarse salt for sprinkling
Instructions
- In a mixing bowl, combine warm water and instant yeast; let sit until frothy (about 5 minutes).
- Mix in salt and flour until a soft dough forms.
- Knead on a floured surface for about 5 minutes until smooth.
- Place dough in an oiled bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let rise in a warm area until doubled in size (about 1 hour).
- Preheat oven to 425°F (220°C). Punch down the risen dough, divide it into small balls, flatten each ball, place cheese in the center, fold over, and pinch to seal.
- Prepare a baking soda bath by dissolving baking soda in boiling water. Dip each pretzel bite for about 30 seconds before placing on parchment-lined baking sheets.
- Brush with melted butter and sprinkle coarse salt on top. Bake for 10-12 minutes until golden brown.
