- 1 medium green cabbage
- 1 lb lean ground beef
- 1 cup uncooked white rice
- 1 medium onion, diced
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 cups tomato sauce
- 1 tsp salt
- ½ tsp black pepper
- 1 tsp paprika
- 2 tbsp fresh parsley, chopped
- Juice of 1 lemon
Instructions
- Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add the whole cabbage and cook for 3-5 minutes until leaves soften.
- In a skillet, sauté diced onions until golden brown. Add minced garlic and cook until fragrant.
- Combine sautéed onions and garlic with ground beef, rice, salt, pepper, paprika, parsley, and lemon juice.
- Carefully remove softened cabbage leaves and place about ¼ cup filling at the base of each leaf. Roll tightly from bottom to top.
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Spread some tomato sauce in a baking dish and arrange rolls seam-side down; cover with remaining sauce.
- Cover with foil and bake for about 1 hour; remove foil for the last 15-20 minutes to brown.
