  • 8 oz kunafa noodles
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 2 cups whole milk
  • 3 tbsp cornstarch
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar (adjust to taste)
  • 1 tsp rose water or orange blossom water

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Chop the kunafa noodles into manageable pieces.
  2. In a saucepan over medium heat, combine the milk, cornstarch, and sugar; stir until thickened (about 5 minutes). Remove from heat and add the rose or orange blossom water.
  3. In a bowl, mix the melted butter with the kunafa noodles until well coated.
  4. Grease a baking dish with butter; layer half of the noodles at the bottom. Pour in the cream filling and top with remaining noodles.
  5. Bake for 30-35 minutes until golden brown and crisp on top.
  6. Let cool slightly before serving warm, optionally drizzling with sugar syrup.
