  • 1 cup granulated sugar (200g)
  • 1/2 cup packed brown sugar (100g)
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour (120g)
  • 1/3 cup unsweetened cocoa powder (40g)
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • Optional: 1/2 cup chocolate chips (90g)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease an 8×8-inch baking pan or line it with parchment paper.
  2. In a saucepan over low heat, melt the butter. Remove from heat and stir in granulated sugar and brown sugar until combined.
  3. Add eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition, then stir in vanilla extract.
  4. In a separate bowl, whisk together flour, cocoa powder, and salt; fold into the wet mixture until just combined. If using, add chocolate chips.
  5. Pour the batter into the prepared pan, spreading evenly. Bake for 20-25 minutes until edges are firm but center is slightly soft.
