Ingredients
Scale
- 1 lb ground beef (80% lean)
- 1 medium onion, finely chopped
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 28 oz can whole peeled tomatoes
- 2 tbsp tomato paste
- 1 cup beef broth (low-sodium)
- 2 tsp Italian seasoning
- 12 oz tagliatelle or pappardelle pasta
- Freshly grated Parmesan cheese, to taste
- 2 tbsp olive oil
Instructions
- 1. Heat olive oil in a large pot over medium heat. Add chopped onions and sauté until translucent, about 5 minutes.
- 2. Increase heat to medium-high and add ground beef. Cook until browned, breaking it apart for even cooking—approximately 8 minutes.
- 3. Stir in minced garlic and cook for another minute until fragrant. Add crushed tomatoes, tomato paste, and beef broth; mix well.
- 4. Sprinkle in Italian seasoning along with salt and pepper to taste. Bring to a simmer and reduce heat, letting it bubble gently for 30 minutes.
- 5. Meanwhile, cook pasta according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.
- 6. Toss cooked pasta into the ragu pot and gently mix until coated in sauce. Serve topped with freshly grated Parmesan cheese.
