Description

Stuffed grape leaves, or dolmas, are a delightful Mediterranean treat that combines tender grape leaves with a savory filling of rice, herbs, and spices. This dish is perfect for gatherings, evoking cherished memories of family and laughter. Ingredients

  • 1 jar (16 oz) grape leaves
  • 1 cup long-grain rice
  • 1/2 cup fresh parsley, chopped
  • 1/4 cup fresh dill, chopped
  • 1 medium onion, finely chopped
  • 1/4 cup lemon juice (freshly squeezed)
  • 3 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Rinse jarred grape leaves under cold water; soak fresh leaves in hot water for about 10 minutes until softened.
  2. In a skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Sauté the chopped onion until translucent, then stir in parsley and dill for one minute.
  3. In a mixing bowl, combine sautéed onions, rice, lemon juice, salt, and pepper; mix well.
  4. Place a tablespoon of filling at the base of each grape leaf. Fold in sides and roll up tightly.
  5. Line a pot with leftover grape leaves. Arrange stuffed rolls seam-side down in layers and drizzle with olive oil. Cover with water.
  6. Simmer on low heat for about 45 minutes until rice is tender.
