Ingredients

  • 34 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
  • 8 oz elbow macaroni
  • 2 cups sharp cheddar cheese, shredded
  • 2 cups whole milk
  • 4 tbsp unsalted butter
  • 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Breadcrumbs for topping (optional)

Instructions

  1. Dice the chicken into bite-sized pieces. Boil water in a large pot and cook macaroni until al dente; drain and set aside.
  2. In a skillet over medium heat, melt butter. Add chicken, season with salt and pepper, and cook until browned (6-8 minutes).
  3. In another pot, melt butter on low heat. Whisk in flour until smooth. Gradually add milk while stirring until thickened (about 5 minutes).
  4. Stir in cheddar cheese until melted. Combine macaroni and chicken with the cheese sauce; mix well.
  5. Transfer to a baking dish, sprinkle with breadcrumbs if desired, and broil for 3-5 minutes until golden brown.
