  • 1 lb lean ground beef
  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 28 oz crushed tomatoes (canned)
  • 4 cups low-sodium beef broth
  • 2 cups small pasta (shells or elbows)
  • 1 cup ricotta cheese
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1 tsp dried basil
  • 1 tsp dried oregano
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. In a large pot over medium heat, sauté the chopped onion in olive oil until translucent. Add minced garlic and cook until fragrant.
  2. Stir in the ground beef and cook until browned. Drain excess fat if needed, then mix in the crushed tomatoes.
